A community for solo female travelers, created by friends.

Travel solo, but never feel alone. Building a network around independent travel.

It takes a certain type of person to travel alone. You’re probably curious, brave, and enjoy going on adventures. Or you’re on the run from the law, and in that case, I wish you the best of luck but can’t help you there!

Even if you’re someone who values their independence and traveling solo, it’s still nice to have the support from other travelers you meet while doing it. That’s why I wanted to create a solo female travelers’ community. This would be a closer, referral based network where you will always have at least one friend, or a mutual friend, in common.

I love meeting new people. But when it comes to visiting a new place and having that layer of trust, it’s nice to know that a friend, or friend of a friend, can vouch for that place to stay, or even put you up for the night!

You’re more likely to meet up with someone or offer help if they know a friend of yours.

So, why not make the process a lot easier?

FAQs

How does this work?

It’s a solo travel networking community where there is always one friend connecting you. So, instead of everyone being able to join, it’s based on a referral system where there’s one degree of separation between you and someone else.

This way, you can travel solo, but continue building an intimate community. This is an opportunity to trust in the kindness of strangers, until they quickly become your friends.

Sounds perfect! How can I join?

Since this is still in the experimental phase, I wanted to start it small on both a private Instagram and a restricted WhatsApp group. Feel free to try out either one, or both.

Instagram is better for quick announcements and to be able to see mutuals. WhatsApp is great for those who don’t love being on social media, and want to ask more in depth questions.

If you’d like to be part of this adventure, I’d love for you to join me!

What can this be used for?

Anything! But I had a few ideas, and divided them up into separate community groups on WhatsApp:

Local Activities - The types of questions you can ask the group can include: Where is the best place to go hiking or scuba diving in the area? What is your favorite museum most tourists don’t know about? Where can you find a good salsa or cooking class? Which tours should you avoid at all costs?

Nightlife & Music Festivals - This is perfect if you’re looking for fun events while visiting a certain city, or want a buddy to go with to a music festival. I’ve also written up a list of 2024-2025 Music Festivals for members to check out, pinned in a Google Sheets page at the top!

Accommodation - Where are the best places to stay? What is the best neighborhood to check out? Do you know someone with an open room for the night who could help a friend out?

Food & Drink Recommendations - Where is the best place you’ve ever eaten in this city? Let’s swap recommendations! Send in any of those saved Google maps lists you’ve got.

Meet Ups & Intros - Maybe you’re going to a new city for a longer amount of time, and want to meet locals or new friends!

General Tips & Questions - This can cover travel insurance, visa info, sim card questions, budget airlines to avoid, and more.

Work Opportunities - Maybe you’re looking for work in a new city, or have an exciting opportunity for someone with flexible hours!

Why are you doing this?

I found myself searching for a better, more personal way to connect with my amazing, nomadic, traveling friends besides posting a story on Instagram going “Anyone gonna be in _(insert city)____ this weekend?”

I wanted to create this because it combines all my favorite things: travel, community, meeting new people. And it’s based around this idea of helping one another as much as we can.

This only works if you interact with it! I know it’s a big ask when something is so new but I’m hoping that you can trust it and experiment with it so we can see where this takes us.

If you’re planning a trip soon, try posting and see what you get back! If you think you can answer someone’s questions, reach out. You never know who you might meet or where this can take you.

I am also very open to any suggestions or comments for improvement! Please feel free to shoot me a message if you have any thoughts to share.

Who is this for?

Anyone! Whether you’ve taken one solo trip or thirty, this is for anyone who would be interested in being part of a more intimate community of travelers.

This is also for people who are maybe tired of hostels but still love meeting new people in a trusted way.

How will it grow?

I wanted to start it with 100 people I know personally or have traveled with, and once we’ve interacted with this core group, I’d love for each person to eventually invite one friend that they think would want to be part of it. From there, after being part of the community, they can invite a friend. Until we have an even more incredible network of solo travelers!

Ultimately, this is a chance to support each other on our adventures more seamlessly.
